Today in class, we read part of chapter 28. It was really dark out, but the street lights lit the path for Scout and Jem to get to the school where the pageant would be held. On the way, Cecil Jacobs appeared out of the darkness and scared Jem and Scout. Cecil told them that the pageant would not happen for a while, so Scout and Cecil decided to go around the school. They went to a haunted house where they touched the organs of a "dead body." They touched the eyes which were peeled grapes, the heart which was raw liver, and the intestines which was spaghetti. They also got food along the way until the pageant finally started. During the pageant, Scout fell asleep. Her queue was when Mrs. Merriweather shouts pork. Mrs. Merriweather kept shouting pork, but when Scout did not appear, they went on with the pageant. Near the end of the play, Mrs. Merriweather was about to place the state flag, Scout finally woke up and ran into her. The entire crowd died of laughter, but Mrs. Merriweather was angry. Scout was so ashamed that she did not leave the school until everyone had left. When Scout and Jem finally leave, it is now really late because all the street lights are off, and it is pure darkness except for the stars.
My theory is that something bad is going to happen while Jem and Scout walk back home. My first possibility is that Bob Ewell is going to attack them because of what Atticus did to him at the trial. He is going to attack his kids instead of Atticus himself because he is too much of a coward. My second possibility is that Boo Radley is going to finally show himself to Jem and Scout. However, he will unintentionally scare them, and they will think he is threatening them. In both these possibilities, Jem will end up breaking his arm somehow. Sheriff Heck Tate or Atticus may be involved, but they won't prevent Jem from breaking his arm. If none of these happen, something good will happen, but I highly doubt that.

I really like your blog. You have a good theory about what will happen while Jem and Scout walk back home. I agree with you that something bad might happen to them, and high possibility is that Bob will attack Jem and Scout. I don't know if Boo will show up himself but I hope he will.
ReplyDeleteMartin I really liked your post. You so far have perfectly predicted the events in the chapter. The only person that we haven't seen yet is boo. However, It is highly probably that they will see him as the stranger from the country has not been identified and could easily be boo.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your theory, and you were 100% right. Someone ended up getting a kitchen knife shoved up their ribs because they tried attacking Jem and Scout. I love you're meme with Kevin Hart. I also saw near the end of paragraph one you talked about the pageant, with Scout falling asleep and Mrs. Merriweather saying pork. She came in too late and bumped in to each other. Great post!
