I thought that what we've read of this chapter so far is quite humorous. I think that its funny how she gets the role of being ham. I'm pretty sure everybody in the classroom reading this found this at least a little funny. I thought that it was funny when she woke up and waddle onto the stage at the wrong moment. You get second-hand embarrassment reading this because you can tell how bad this is for her. Although it is funny, you feel bad. I also felt bad when she found out the school was closed and she couldn't get her clothes back. So far, this chapter seems pretty good to me.

Best Pageant Ever
In chapter twenty-eight, Scout has to play the role of ham for Halloween because Maycomb is having a pageant this year. Before this year, Halloween was an event that the town didn't plan out. Everybody did their own thing. While Scout and Jem were walking to the school, Cecil Jacobs scared them. Jem lets Scout go hang out with Cecil and is okay with this because now he's able to talk with other kids that are his age. Scout is given thirty cents and spends it on a haunted house that she and Jacob aren't scared of. They then have to go and get ready for the play. Scout realizes by bending her knees, she can rest inside the costume. She falls asleep and misses her part in the pageant. she wakes up and thinks that its better if she goes on now instead of not going up at all. She waddles up to the stage at the end of the play. Everybody laughs and she is embarrassed. Scout and Jem leave after everyone else is gone. As they leave, Scout realizes she forgot her clothes at the school, as they went back to go get it, the auditorium lights turned off.

This is a good blog post. I also agree with you that it was funny of Scout just going out in stage like a ham and waddle. I also agree with you that I also feel bad for Scout she got embarrassed in front of the whole auditorium.
ReplyDeletePablo, this is a very good blog post. Thank you for making it so concise and informing. You summed up what happened quite well and I have to agree with you on the fact that this is a funny chapter. Good job pitching in some of your own opinions on how you thought the chapter was funny.
ReplyDeletePablo, I liked this post. You well represented what happened in the chapter. Then you showed us what you thought of the chapter. Obviously it was funny. A little piece of advice. Don't use one word so much like funny. I always have thesaurus.com bookmarked just is case I need a better word.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog post, Pablo. I found it quite humorous as well to see ham running on the stage at the wrong moment, and then at the end of the play Mrs. Merriweather got really mad with Scout and made her feel bad. I think she was a bit too rude though.
