Goodbye Mockingbird and One Last Conspiracy Theory

Yesterday we finished To Kill a Mockingbird and I'd just like to say goodbye. For the past month or so this book has been the bane of our existence. It taught us many thing most of all the themes which we will have to write our final papers on. My favorite would be that you have to put yourself in someone else's shoes before you can truly judge them. We have seen this countless times in the book. When scout saw the world from boo's perspective it really enlightened us and showed us what a life boo lives. A secluded one where he can see maycomb and all the ignorance, tolerance, and mainly he could see Scout and Jem grow up. In a friendly way he was always watching them always protecting them making sure that they were always safe and that they could always be safe.  Me being me I have to fit one conspiracy theory in just before the book ends and thats that Atticus sort of asked Boo to watch out for his children and make sure that they grow up safely. Boo was right there to save Scout and Jem when they were attacked by Bob Ewell. Then when they were watching the fire Boo was right there with a blanket so that they wouldn't freeze to death. Furthermore, theirs the fact that Atticus acted as if he always knew Arthur so he could have been in constant contact with him. Boo does leave the house at night so Atticus could have been getting daily updates on his children and what they did. He did know that Jem was lying when he said the strip poker story. Arthur could have told him that he saw the children that night. We do have evidence that he was there the night that they were at the Radley place.  Scout saw his shadow! Now I can still see Arthur making those things for the children just to be nice, but I bet when Atticus heard about the trinkets from the knothole he went to Arthur's father and made him fill the knothole so that their cover wasn't blown. That's how Atticus could always be there for him. He had an informant.

The Grind Was Real

To Kill A Mockingbird has got to be one of my favorite books of all time. I loved the characters and the entire story. The first page sounded boring since it was talking about how Jem broke his arm. To me, this sounded like the book would be mediocre, but oh was I wrong. We met many interesting characters like Boo Radley, Scout, and Tom Robinson. The book was much darker than I was expecting. However, I expected the death of a character because every book we have read has someone die. I learned many important life lessons and morals such as not judging somebody before stepping into their shoes. This lesson will always be me in my mind for the future because I'll use this for every single day of my life. My favorite character was definitely Tom Robinson even though he is no longer with us. He was the underdog of the trial, and everybody in class hoped he would make it out innocent. Of course the racism and ignorance of Maycomb defeated the jury, but it definitely removed the fear of a character dying... until Bob died. I was so hyped that the coward he was died because his previous actions annoyed me so much. Also, I just want to thank Boo for being clutch and saving Jem and Scout before they left us too. I was hoping Boo would finally make his appearance in the book. When he did, he did it in the best way possible. The final chapter of the book in my opinion was confusing. If Mr. Boyle did not explain what happened, I would probably be questioning the ending for a long time.

I would like to dedicate a mini countdown on the blog for the top three deaths of TKAM. Number 3, Tim Johnson. Even though we never knew his backstory besides him being owned by Mr. Johnson and having rabies, obviously. He had an honorable death by dying from One Eye Finch. Number 2, Tom Robinson. Tom Robinson was a great person in the book. The only thing bad about Tom is the reason for his death. If only Bob Ewell and Mayella had not accused him of rape, he would still be with his now-widow wife, and his fatherless children. I don't blame Mayella a lot for his death because Bob was the real reason. I just want to ask Bob, why would you cover up your daughter breaking a social code when nobody respects you anyway? Too bad he died. Finally, the moment you've been waiting for. I'll even use their full name. Number 1, To Kill a Mockingbird. Death by reading the last page. If you thought I was going to say Robert Ewell, he doesn't deserve to be on the list. Well that's it. Goodbye to this blog and goodbye TKAM.

It's The End of The World as We Know It

The title of my post is the title of a pretty old song, look it up if you want. We have been reading this book since October. It's January. Remember how the book started, Scout gave the background of the Finches. I remember I started reading, and felt like super good about myself because I finished the first chapter of a really hard book. Now I look back at the October Ellie, and I laugh. We just finished the book. It was a really hard book, and now we're done.
Image result for jem scout and dillThe last chapter was really interesting, in many ways. Scout had a Halloween pageant, and she missed her cue, and made a very embarrassing scene. She didn't want to take her costume off because she was too embarrassed, and decided to walk home in her costume. It was really dark out, and Jem didn't have a flashlight. They heard someone following them,a and they ran, but were to slow, and in the process, Bob Ewell attacked them. Scout was really confused through the whole thing, and heard Jem scream. Then Bob attacked Scout by trying to choke her, but instead crushed her costume. The costume must have saved Scout's life. Then Scout realized that four people were involved in this. Scout looked out, and saw someone carrying Jem home. Scout followed. She found out later, that it was Boo Radley who saved them. Scout actually gets to know Boo, and likes him. She realizes that he is not an evil demon, but instead, a really nice man who saved her life.
The old Scout who was the fighter, and the stubborn tomboy, would have run away from Boo, and been totally creeper out. Now that Scout has lost her innocence, and sees the real world, she takes Boo in as a person, and makes a friend. All this time, Atticus was trying to get her to see things the right way, but Scout has always looked at things with the deadliest disease, ignorance. Scout through her life grew up, and became a good person. She looks at things the way Atticus would, and thinks before she acts, and she is getting good at empathizing with others.
Image result for image of the end To Kill a MockingbirdI think that the whole book has been about the themes that we talked about, and the trial, and Dill, but the real story plot is Scout growing up. It is about Scout seeing the world as, a beautiful, yet ugly place. She learns that it is not always what it looks like, but more what it actually is like. Dolphus Raymond is an example. Jem and Scout used to judge him because he could get drunk before 8:00 in the morning, and he was always hanging out with the black people. But once Scout, and Dill got to know him, they realized that he likes the black people better, and he never drank alcohol, just coke. Scout learned three things there. I think we can figure it out. This was an amazing story about a A father of integrity, a football loving brother, a boy who makes summer the best, a black man who got killed for doing the right thing, a ignorant man being let go because he is white, but soon dies, a girl who is abused, a cook, a hard working neighbor, a scary at first but very nice neighbor, and a girl who grows up, and looses her innocence, and sees the world from a different perspective. The End.

In this chapter, we read about Scout putting Jem to sleep and Boo wanting to pet him. as they were watching Jem sleep, Boo did some communications with scout by grabbing her hand which was intending that he wanted to leave. she leads him to the front porch and he tells her in almost a whisper if she could walk him home. When she took him home, she had never seen him again. she begins to get sad since he had been the one giving her the little gifts in the knothole, but they had never gave anything back in return. as she leaves, she goes behind the window where Boo had been watching them the whole time and puts herself in his shoes for a moment. she imagines everything that has happened from the beginning of the book to what recent event had happened in Boo's point of view. she did this because Atticus had always told her to always stand in someone else's shoes and feel how its like to be them, so this seems why Scout had looked back at everything from the Radley porch. when scout goes back home, she goes into Jem's room and sees Atticus reading " the gray ghost". she tells him to read it to her, but falls asleep when he starts the book, Atticus carries her to bed, and she begins telling the story to Atticus as she is half asleep. she says the story was about a kid named "stoner boy" and some other kids who were chasing him to find out what he actually looked like, but found out he was really a nice kid. Atticus tells her that everyone is nice when you actually get to meet them, then scout realizes that Atticus was referring to Boo Radley.
I think that this book would end up kind of sad since I really thought that Boo was a bad guy who eats rats and stabbed his father in the beginning of the book. My first thought on this book was that it would be about an ordinary girl in the 1930s and her life during this time period. Overall, I think this book was pretty interesting, especially in the ending which scout had just made a whole summary of what had happened. I mainly enjoyed the last chapter because we finally got to find out who boo was and saw how the whole book ended.

Once you get to know Atticus, your personality will change

Today, we finished the last chapter of the book To Kill a Mockingbird. This book has been with me for about two and half months. Before I started reading this book, I didn't know it would be so meaningful and useful for learning. First, I learned what the true courage is. I used to think that a strong guy with his strong power kill a bad guy is the true courage. However, my mind was changed completely after I read about the part Atticus sat in front of jail to protect Tom Robinson from the Cunninghams with no weapons. I know it takes guts to do that and I think people today are too scared to do thing like that because it is hard to do. Even I would not do that.
Second, I learned how to put myself in other people's shoes and see what really happens before I judge them. If I judge them without knowing anything about them, I am not a tolerant person. If we see a man cries, maybe his mother just passed away or something bad has happened to him. If we see a student who frequently skips school or gets a bad grades, maybe that student has to work to help his/her parents. We cannot judge anyone unless we step in their shoes and see thing from their point of view.
Third, this book gives me a lot of lessons about high moral standard. I don't know if there is anyone that acts exactly like Atticus in real world. I hope there is. His moral standard is so high that at the end of the book, before Mr. Tate told him Boo was the one who killed Bob, Atticus wanted to go to court with Jem because he thought Jem killed Bob. Although he knew that Jem would be found innocent, he still wanted to make it clear so people would not talk about it anymore. I always want to act like Atticus but sometimes I just give up because I'm too scared to tell the truth, to admit what I did was wrong.
After finishing this book, I felt sorry for a lot of characters in the book but I especially felt sorry for Tom Robinson. He didn't do anything wrong yet he had to go to jail and then committed suicide. He wanted to free himself from the world that is full of ignorance people. He had no hope when he heard the guilty verdict. . He was a big mockingbird in this book. If people in Maycomb took a little time to think about what they did to Tom, they might think that "most people are nice when you finally see them".
Thank you Mr. Boyle for a wonderful book. I really want to see the movie on Thursday. Can't wait!!

My Opinion on To Kill a Mockingbird

So we finally finished the book. As Mr. Boyle has said, the book has been the bane of our existence since October. After reading about four hundred pages, taking a huge law test, and discussing the book, I can definitely say that I loved this book. I thought that it was an amazing book. To Kill a Mockingbird is a work of pure genius. In my opinion, Harper Lee made a masterpiece. There are many reasons why this book is amazing. first of all, the characters are all unique and all of them have special roles to play. There are a few characters that act as metaphorical mockingbirds. They are people who have done nothing wrong yet they get punished. Probably the greatest example of a metaphorical mockingbird is Tom. Tom was a man who only wanted to help out Mayella. He knew she didn't have the best family and didn't have many friends. He believed that he was doing something small that was just the right thing to do. However, that little deed that he did lead to his death. Things like this are what give the book character. Second of all, the book is very emotional. It will make you happy, sad, angry, or scared. Every emotion can be felt while reading this book. Finally, I think that the book gives some very good commentary on how people had thought back in the 1930s. This book gives us an idea of how the average ignorant American thought back then about racism and mental disabilities. I am comfortable in calling everyone in this book (except for maybe Atticus, Jem, Miss Maudie, and Scout) ignorant when it comes to mental disabilities. Why do I say this? Well its quite simple, they didn't have the technology that we have today. Of course, they wouldn't know why Arthur acts.
Now that we have finished the book I can definitely say that this book was better Of Mice and Men. I thought that this one had more emotion and had a better story. I can tell that Mr. Boyle put these two books together because they both take place at the same time. I think it would be clever if Mr. Boyle made the books be read in order of when they take place. Anyways, this book is amazing and I think it has been a while since I really got into a book this size.

Adios to kill a mocking bird

Today is a really sad day. We finished the book today. I liked the book a lot. I learned a lot of things. I learned new lessons. Every lesson that I learned in the book helped me to look beyond and help others by doing the right things. It showed me not to hate people, because the people that I hated did nothing to me, so why would I hate them. In the last chapter Jem was still sleeping and he was going to wake up in the morning. Scout and Author where in the outside sitting down. They went inside to see Jem. Author was petting him. They were going back, then Author asked Scout if she could take her back. He said it like a little kid that was scared of the dark. When I was little I was scared of the dark, but not anymore, because I know nothing will happen and someone is protecting me. Author goes inside and that was the last time she saw him. When I was little I had a two wonderful friends in Mexico, but I had to come back and never saw them again. They were pretty nice people. Scout then stepped into Authors shoes show a moment she realizes that he has been nice to them and they were mean and ignorant. If People were nice to each other and not judge people right away the world would be different and better, everyone would get a long better. At the end Atticus is with Jem in his room and was reading a book. Scout comes over and asks her to read her. He said that she was probably to tired. She said no. While Atticus was reading Scout was falling asleep. When Atticus was going to take her to bed she started talking about the main character, that children were saying bad things about this person, but at the end he was a nice gentle person. Atticus left Scout and when to sleep. Atticus was going to go to Jems room. He was going to be there until Jem woke up. I was kinda sad, because we don't get to read the book anymore and that make me sad. Everything will be different. At least we get to read another book. Well this my last blog post for To Kill a Mocking Bird. Image result for to kill a mockingbird memes
