The book went on, and Aunt Alexandra moved in, and we all despised her. Well, I did. She was there because Atticus needed help teaching Scout to be a lady. The trial then came along, and we had to say good bye to Tom. We heard "one of the greatest closing statements," as Mr. Boyle would say. I have to agree with Mr. Boyle there. If I was on that jury, I would have probably gone in favor of Tom, just because of the closing statement. It was very sad to read that Tom had committed suicide by running. The guards had no choice but to shoot him. Helen, Tom's wife, was very sad to see him leave the earth, and that made me sad. I loved Helen and Tom, and I thought Tom was going to be the first African American to get the jury to rule in favor of him.

Farewell TKAM
This book was amazing! This was probably one of my favorite books. I am excited to read the last and final chapter. I hope it lives up to its potential as "the best way to end a book." I'm going to start at the very beginning. I think it is cool how the book finished the main question we had at the very beginning of the book, how would Jem break his arm, and what happens in between Jem breaking his arm. As the book went on, just like Jem, Scout, and Dill, we all became obsessed with Boo Radley. We wanted to know what he looked like, how he acted, and why he stayed in his house all the time. In the end, we found out that he is just like Lennie Small. It is really sad that the Radley's had to keep him cooped up in the house all the time because he has a mental disability. It is saddening how ignorant the people of Maycomb (except Atticus) are. They don't understand that Boo was just born that way, and he couldn't control it.

The last big thing that happened was Bob attacking Jem and Scout. Heck would say Bob fell on his knife and Atticus would say Jem stabbed Bob. Heck finally makes Atticus see that he isn't covering up for Jem, he's covering up for Boo. He says it would be a sin to tell the entire town that Boo Radley killed Bob. He would be forced into the light, where he doesn't want to be. Scout then tells Atticus that Heck is right because it would be like killing a mockingbird. The title of the book is then seen again. It is neat to see it show up throughout our book like that. Through all the tears and Atticus' life morals, our book is finally coming to an end, and I don't know about you, but that makes me very sad.

Kassie, I really like the way you gave your overall opinions on all of the major events in the book. I also thought that it was clever to have the first couple of chapter's mysteries be solved in the end. I too would have voted not guilty if I were in the case, and I did despise Aunt Alexandria just as you mentioned. Overall, great post.
