Atticus vs Mayella

Image result for pretty intense meme       This chapter got pretty intense. We had all kinds of back and forths between Mayella and Atticus. Mayella thought Atticus was messing with and mocking with her when he was only treating her respectfully. I find that funny. This shows, she isn't treated with respect. She isn't used to people calling her Miss Mayella, or ma'am. These are two names that people demand out of children out of respect. Here, this woman, isn't used to this. She isn't around people that respect her. She lives by a dump! She is most likely abused by her father. She probably is always hungry. Scout informs us that she looks like she tries to bathe herself, but you can only do so much with little money.
Atticus gets a point in my eyes. He makes people realize that Tom Robinson doesn't have a working left hand. He would have had to hit Mayella in her right eye with his right hand. I guarantee if someone was about to hit me with their right hand towards MY right eye, I would have time to dodge the blow. It moves slower than a normal hit when you hit across the body. Atticus makes the jury see that Tom could be innocent. I find it funny how Atticus almost gets Mayella to crack. I think that it is Bob who beat his own child. He probably had a little too much to drink and Mayella was the nearest child he had. It is just sad seeing this happen in the book.
