I really like this chapter because it also gives us some depth on how Cal reacts to things. When she notices that Jem isn't being real nice to Scout, she takes her under her wing. She doesn't leave her on her own to deal with Jem. Cal acts like a mother that is there to talk to. We also see how Cal acts when "her" kids are bullied by Lula. Cal doesn't lose her head and storm away, but stands her ground because she knows her rights and her church. Scout and Jem's father is protecting one of their dearest friends, so if his kids want to go to their church they are going to let them. Atticus is also taking a lot of heat for taking this case. His kids are also being put in bad situations. I found it funny when the pastor would look straight at Jem and Scout because he knew it was them messing around.

Calpurnia *applause*
I personally really liked chapter twelve because we find out a lot about Cal. She grew up around Atticus, Jack, and Alexandra. She started working for Atticus when he got married to Scout's mother. Cal is a mother herself. We also found out that she is older than Atticus. We don't know exactly how old she is, but she has to be older than fifty because that is how old Atticus is. We know for sure that she is the mother of Zeebo. I have a feeling that she has another child. Maybe she doesn't. Cal grew up right by Finch Landing, so she knew Atticus when they were both young. She obviously started working for Atticus when he moved to town and married his wife.

Kassie I really liked this post. Cal is a good person who is a perfect mother for the children. She is another good figure that we should look up to and follow. You represented her well with this post.
ReplyDeleteI really like your post. Cal, is my favorite character for that very reason, she knows her rights, and stands up for what is right, and doesn't run off. I think that Cal is a very great role model, unlike Aunt Alexandra.
