Reading Too Fast? - Faraes Wubshet

Today we learn a lot more about Scout in this chapter. We learn that she is going into first grade. We also learn about her new teacher who used to live In Northern Alabama, who came down into Maycomb to teach. A fact I learned in this chapter I found interesting is that They said Alabama seceded from the Union on January 11. The reason this popped out to me, is because my cousin's birthday is on that exact day, Just one hundred forty-two years later. Back on topic their teacher Miss Caroline is mean to Scout. She seemed really mean to Scout since she already known how to read. Scout learned how to read, by just reading in the newspaper, and it just came to her. Miss Caroline was really mean to her since she knew how to read, which I thought was wrong.

I have a story of this happening to me when I was in third grade. I was reading a science book, and learned one of Albert Einstein's theories. I told my teacher this, and thought they would be impressed. However my teacher was mad, and thought I was getting ahead of my science book. I guess my teacher had some reason to be mad. That’s how I thought it related to my chapter. I feel sad for Scout and what has happened with her and her teacher. I believe that she she should be rewarded for knowing the alphabet instead of having the teacher dislike her for that reason. To me that's the opposite of what a teacher should do. I would believe if I hadn’t know Miss Caroline’s expression that she would be happy someone in the class knew the alphabeat. If I was a teacher I would encourage her to taking a bigger leap. However most teachers aren’t like Miss Caroline in 2017, and would be happy what their students are accomplishing, and that there ahead of the game.

  1. Good job Faraes. Both blog comments I have read have been about teachers abusing the students coincidence? I like how you talked about how you felt like Scout how you wanted to be congradulated, but instead was let down, a and yelled at. Overall this was really good.
