Is Boo just misunderstood, or is he a true savage beast?

In the first chapter of TKAM we first hear about a character named "Boo" Radley. In the chapter we learn the children have never see boo but there are a lot of rumors about him, so they believe them. One of the rumors is when boo had been scrapbooking when his dad walked by. When his dad walked by he drove the scissors into his father's leg, then pulled them out, wiped the blood off on his pants and got straight back to scrapbooking. Another rumor is that Boo only comes out of the house at night were he kills and eats raw squirrels, and cats if he can catch them. Also when he is out he watches his neighbors sleep though their windows. Some people call him a malevolent phantom because he is thought to be evil and no one ever sees him.
Jem has come to the conclusion that, from the rumors, of what boo looks like. He believes that he is 6 and a half feet tall, he eats raw squirrels and cats which causes his blood stained fingers, and has rotting teeth. In other words to Jem he is a monster, and a savage animal, this shows major ignorance on Jem's part. Especially when his information has come from gossip, which we know is not usually true. But it is for sure that he was once in with the wrong crowd so these rumors could be true. Image result for misunderstood memes

  1. Nate, this is a good summary of Boo and if he is misunderstood, or a really bad guy. I like the second paragraph where you talked about Jem and his ignorance. We still have not heard from you or your opinions. Other than that, you have got a nice analysis here.
