When I was about nine and my brother seven, we had neighbors, a eleven year old girl named Emily, and a six year old boy named Lucas. They moved away about four years ago and I can still remember the fun times we had. We would always spy on random people around the neighborhood. This relates to my life because we didn't understand that it was weird to sneak up to a completely random person's house and take turns using those twisted upwards binocular things to watch people watch tv, do the dishes, eat dinner, whatever a normal family does.
One day a neighbor, one I'm now close with but didn't know us at the time, saw us peeking in their house, and asked us to bring her to our parents. When we did they talked and it ended with her leaving, laughing and telling us we were welcome in her yard anytime. This is similar to Jem, Dill, and Scout because they didn't know that playing Boo Radley wasn't nice, the same way Quinn, Emily, Lucas, and I didn't know creeping on people wasn't nice.
Jem, Dill, and Scout are kids, therefore they do things kids do, obviously. At the beginning of summer Jem decides to start playing a game, Boo Radley. In this game they reenact the rumors of Boo Radley, and I stress the rumors part. A few of these rumors are that one day when he was scrapbooking he stabbed is father in the leg with the scissors, then causally wiped the blood off and continued on the dreaded scrapbooking. Another rumor is that he goes out at night to catch animals and eat them raw, and if he can, cats too. Because of this Jem has come up with a hypothesis on what Boo looks like. He says that Boo is, 6'5, he eats raw squirrels and cats, rotting teeth, bloodstained hands, and that he is a savage animal. The most important thing to know about this is that it is based off of rumors. After Dill heard of Boo he has wanted to see him, he sometimes stands by a pole by his house and watches to house in wonder. When they play Boo Radley they playit in the front for all to see, even Boo.
I found your story about your cousins and neighbors very creepy, weird, and funny. I liked how you related Jem, Dill, and Scout's actions to yours. You were accurate, and your title and meme were pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteGood job Nate. I really liked how you started your thing with your story, and then tied it in with the book. I have to relate with you, my best friend was my neighbor when we were young, and we had a big window peering into our basement, and at night we would watch Dora, and my friend would just lay on the ground outside, and watch from out there. It got a bit creepy at times, but she didn know beter. It is the same with Jem, Scout, and Dill. Really good job here. I really enjoyed it.
ReplyDelete(great job with the debate too today!)
